ลักษณะ :

ไม้พุ่มหรือไม้ต้นขนาดเล็กสูงถึง 4 เมตร ใบ เดี่ยว เรียงสลับ รูปรี กว้าง 1.5-4.5 ซม. ยาว 6-12 ซม. ผิวใบด้านล่างเกลี้ยง เห็นเส้นใบ ชัดเจน ดอก สีขาวหรือเหลืองอ่อน ออกเป็นช่อกระจุกแน่น มีใบประดับรองรับ ดอกย่อย 6-14 ดอก กลีบรองดอกเชื่อมเป็นหลอด ยาว 6-11 มม. มีขนด้านนอก ปลายกลีบแยกเป็น 4 แฉกแหลม ไม่มีกลีบดอก เกสรผู้ 8 อัน ปลายรังไข่มีขนหนาแน่น ผล สีม่วงดำ รูปไข่ป้อม อ่อนนุ่ม กว้าง 5 มม. ยาว 8-12 มม. เมล็ดมีขนาดเล็ก

Characteristics :

Shrub or small tree up to 4 m high. Leaves simple, narrow elliptic to elliptic, gradually narrowed at both ends, 6-12 cm long by 1.5-4.5 cm wide, blade thinly coriaceous, glabrous. Inflorescence axillary, in head, with two green often red-tinged involucral bracts, broadly ovate; peduncle slender, 2-5 cm long. Flowers 6-14, scented, pale yellow or white, sessile, calyx-tube 6-11 mm long, yellowish, sericeous pilose outside; stamens 8; anthers 1.2 mm long; ovary densely pillose. Fruit black or purplish-black, ovoid, 8-12 by 5 mm. Seeds minute.

ประเทศอินเดีย จีนตอนใต้ เอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ประเทศไทยพบทุกภาค พบกระจาย ตามภูเขาที่ลาดชัน และในป่าดงดิบ ที่ระดับความสูง 2,000 เมตร

Distribution :

India, Southern China, Southeast Asia to Sumatra, Borneo and West Java. Scattered on mountain slopes and ridges in evergreen and lower montane forest, up to elevations of 2,000 m.
